Thoughts and Response — Study: Fake news is making college students question all news

I was shocked when reading Study: Fake news is making college students question all news by Daniel Funke. According to his article, he says that many college, high school and middle schoolers are unable to identify real vs fake news. I was under the impression that it’s true that many of our young people in society were unable to identify fake news, but not with such high numbers! According to Funke, he states that it is more than half!

I believe it is very important that we being to educate and focus on teaching the new generation about the importance of identifying truths versus falsehoods. It does teach good critical thinking skills when students cross reference articles to obtain if they are valid, but as stated in the article, it is also sad that we have to cross check everything due to the lack of trust and the rise of fake news.
